Disney Visa Late Summer Room-Only Discount

And the discounts just keep coming! Disney has just released a room-only discount for Disney Rewards Visa card members, with travel dates August 15 through September 28. (Don’t worry; the discount will go public later this week.) You can add park tickets to this package and a slight discount will apply.  The offer must be booked by July 31, and the discounts are as follows:

  • Save 30% at most Deluxe Resorts (excluding Polynesian, Grand Floridian, and Contemporary) and Villas.

  • Save 25% at most Moderate Resorts (excluding Port Orleans French Quarter), including the cabins at Fort Wilderness.

  • Save 20% at the Polynesian, Grand Floridian, Contemporary, All-Star Sports , All-Star Music and Pop Century.

  • Save 15% at Art of Animation Resort family suites (excludes standard rooms).

  • Save 5% at All-Star Movies, Port Orleans French Quarter, Animal Kingdom Lodge (Savanna view and club level), Contemporary (theme park view and club level rooms), Bay Lake Tower and Animal Kingdom Villas.

This discount cannot be combined with the Free Fall Dining discount.

It’s Free Fall Dining Time!

If you’re a Disney Rewards Visa cardholder (and why wouldn’t you be?), you can book at WDW package and get the dining plan free! Of course, if you don’t have the DRV, you’ll need to wait a few days to get this same discount. (Check Disney’s online “offers” page May 9.) The details are similar to past years, although the travel dates seems to be getting more limited each year:

  • Valid for travel dates September 2-25; that just means that you must check in during those date–your stay can extend beyond September 25.
  • Must be booked by July 31.
  • Suites, villas, and campsites are excluded.
  • There is a 3-night minimum stay and a 14-night maximum.
  • You must purchase at least a 2-day Magic Your Way ticket for every guest staying in your room.
  • Guests staying at a Value Resort will receive the Quick Service Dining Plan free. Those staying at Moderate or Deluxe Resorts will receive the Disney Dining Plan free.
  • You can upgrade to any of the other available plans for a charge.

That about sums it up. If you’re a DRV cardholder, I recommend booking BEFORE this is released to the general public to ensure that you get the resort of your choice.

Summer Room Discount for Disney Visa Cardholders

A room-only discount has just been released to Disney Rewards Visa Cardholders for summer travel dates June 13 through August 14. (It will be released to the general public on April 2.) The discount offers up to 30% off rack rate of various Resorts throughout Walt Disney World. Generally, it’s 30% off Deluxe and Villas, 20% off Moderates, and 15% off Values, but there are exclusions and restrictions. You must use your Disney Rewards Visa to pay the deposit, and the deal must be booked by June 14. For complete details, click here.

Final Disney Fund Count

I must admit that I’ve been neglecting the Disney Fund lately. I haven’t been doing anything to actively grow it. Nonetheless, I counted everything up, and here’s what we have:

  • $774.89 in cash (mostly spare change, yard sale funds, and rebates)
  • $275.00 in Disney gift cards
  • $84.99 in gas gift cards
  • $65 in “cash” gift cards (American Express, etc.)
  • $213.67 in Disney Visa rewards

For a grand total of $1,413.55

Now, obviously, this won’t pay for our entire vacation (although we have gone to Disney World for less than this in the past), but it will still take a significant bite out of what we will spend. And since this is all money that we acquired without diverting funds from elsewhere (it’s found money, for the most part), we haven’t even noticed a hit to our bank account.

In addition to the gift cards mentioned above, I’ll also be taking along several restaurant gift cards that I’ve aquired from various sources (surveys, promotions, etc.). We may not be able to use all of them (depending on what restaurants are available when we’re ready to eat), but hopefully we’ll be able to save a little on our meals while we travel with these too. And, of course, I have dining coupons too!

I’ll be tracking our expenses and plan to report back at the end of our trip with how much we saved.

It’s free fall dining time again! For now, it’s just available to Disney Visa cardholders, but it will be released to the general public in just a few days. As always, availability is limited and there are minimum purchase requirements of a 3-night Resort stay (and a maximum of 14-day stay) and at least a 2-day Magic Your Way ticket per person. Those staying at a Value Resort will get the Quick Service Dining Plan (you can upgrade for the price difference), with Moderate and Deluxe stays earning the Disney Dining Plan. Here are the available dates:

    • September 30 through October 4
    • October 19 through November 1
    • November 9-15
    • November 23–29
    • December 10–13

This offer must be booked by September 29, and all suites, campsites, and some villas seem to be excluded, as well as the new Art of Animation Resort.

I’m super excited, because the Art of Animation Resort was excluded from the previous Room-Only discount I posted here, but now AOA has it’s very own discount for Disney Visa cardholders! Book by June 14 and receive 15% off of regular seasonal rates for both suites and regular guest rooms at AOA for travel dates June 18 through September 27. (Yay! This includes our travel dates!) Rooms are limited, so make your reservations ASAP.

When I called to apply the discount to my existing reservation, I wasn’t asked for a promo code (although, if asked, the code is Q4F), but I did have to verify that I am indeed a Disney Visa cardholder.

While most Disney Visa discounts are later offered to the general public within a week or so, there is no indication of whether or not this will be true for this discount. It’s possible. It’s also possible that they will offer this as an exclusive discount for cardholders. Either way, all my savvy readers have a Disney Rewards Visa, right? If not, read this post and learn about the new Disney Premier Visa (the link also allows you to apply for the traditional Disney Rewards Visa).
